Summer Recap

The women of Alpha Rho have had a busy summer!  Between internships and traveling, the Alpha Rho women took their excellence from the classroom to their hometowns and across the United States this summer.

Academic accomplishment is important to the members of Alpha Rho and that was no different this summer.  Many students took classes and even traveled abroad to earn credit towards their respected degrees.  Some of the Alpha Rho members were lucky enough to travel with fellow sisters!  Thetas were spread out throughout the world in places such as Costa Rica, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Ireland, and Switzerland.

Internships were another big area of focus for the women of Alpha Rho this summer.  Alpha Rho members had internships at the National Defense University in our nation’s capitol, First PREMIERE Bank, YouthWorks (a Christ centered mission trips in Harrisburg, PA), the Department of Social Services in our state’s capitol, Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, and South Dakota Public Broadcasting in Vermillion.  These are just some of amazing internships our members had this summer!

The Alpha Rho chapter was also lucky enough to send two representatives to the Kappa Alpha Theta Emerging Leaders Conference in Chicago!  Leah Gleason and Annie Kuznik were both selected for this honor. These ladies had to opportunity to learn about Kappa Alpha Theta as well as meet sisters from across the country and Canada!

Other Alpha Rho members were lucky enough to experience new adventures with organizations on campus including Dance Marathon and AWOL (Alternative Week of Off-Campus Learning).  Women traveled together for a relaxing trip while enjoying their sisters company.  Some even had the opportunity to travel to other Theta chapters around the nation.  Many women also worked on their preceptorship in order to fulfill their scholarship requirements.

The women of Alpha Rho have had a busy summer, but it’s time to move back to our home on East Clark Street! Being able to reunite with sisters is always worth seeing the summer end!
