Fall Summary

Fall 2013 was a busy semester for the Alpha Rho Thetas!

In August, we were excited to reunite with sisters and explore our completely renovated kitchen! We were happy to share a beautiful kitchen with our cook, Connie. She had a constant smile on her face for the first few weeks! We would all like to thank our alumnae for donations toward the renovation. It was greatly needed and appreciated!

Spirit Week and Recruitment are the busiest two weeks for every Greek member.  Sorority and Fraternity life at USD has grown so large that this year we had six rounds of house tours. Working long hours during the hottest weeks of the summer paid off as we welcomed 44 beautiful new members into Kappa Alpha Theta on Bid Day.

Dakota Days was a highlight of October. Six members of our chapter were on the Executive Board planning a week full of events. We were also proud to have six members nominated for Dakota Days royalty. Dakota Days nominations showcase leaders on campus, and it is an honor to have so many nominations come from our chapter. This year we were excited to celebrate that our president, Anna Hyronimus was crowned Miss Dakota 2013!

Our annual philanthropy, Colors for CASA took place on a chilly day in mid-October with participants lined up and ready to run at 9am. The 5K took runners around campus and downtown Vermillion. Upon completion, they were welcomed to a pancake feed at the Eagles Club. The event was a success with $2,500 raised for the local Southeast CASA program located in Yankton!

We ended the semester with Finals week in mid-December. We are proud to announce that our hard work paid off as we received Top GPA with an average of 3.535, an increase from our record-breaking average of 3.523 last semester!
